Doug (Iain Glen) thinks he's a country singer, but he's too old and lacks any motivation or self belief. He carries around a demo he won't let anyone hear while daydreaming of being heard on the local radio station or playing his mate's bar. His best friend is a worn out mechanic (Steven Mackintosh), a hapless loser desperate to persuade his son (Laurence Kinlan) not to leave the family business, the small engine repair shop of the title. With their personal ties disintegrating all around them, Doug suddenly finds himself staring one last chance in the eye and the chance to prove local doubters he has some worth.

An entertaining and jam-packed talk given by Paul Stamets at the San Francisco Fungus Fair about bioremediation; the importance of the fungal genome, especially the old growth forests; the use of fungi in early Europe; and now the re-discovery of these fungi in helping preserve, repair, and balance ecosystems. Lots of great slides. This is a great lecture.

This is a COPY of a 1943 printed booklet that was carried in the canvas scabbard of this tool, the LC-14-B. This is the military number for the Woodmans Pal, a machete/knife/entrenching tool made by The Victor Tool company of PA. This knife had three cutting edges on it, the machete blade, the end of the blade that could be used for digging(entrenching), and a hook blade that was used for lopping off branches and could be used for fighting. Although the effectiveness of this knife/tool is suspect for fighting, here is the COPY of the booklet, as written by the manufacturer for the US troops. The original booklet contained 15 2 3/4 by 4 inch pages. I have COPIED it onto 3, 8.5 by 11 inch pages. Some of the pages contain: Drawing the knife from the scababrd, How to Hold the knife (for fighting), the " TO Come " stance, The "ON Guard "Stance, The Distance, The Aim, Opposing the machete-sword and bayonnet. Interesting item to add to your military knife collection, or for WW2 buffs.
